Trades recruiting in Naples, FL

Naples pays trades techs above the Florida median in every trade and still runs short of them. The Collier County medians for HVAC techs, plumbers, and electricians all sit above the state’s, yet the whole metro employs fewer than 3,000 of them combined. We recruit for the independent Collier shops serving one of the most demanding customer bases in the state.

Who we recruit in Naples

What do trades techs earn in Naples?

More than in Tampa, and more than the Florida median, in every trade. The BLS May 2025 wage survey puts Naples-Marco Island medians at $28.62 an hour for HVAC techs, $27.80 for plumbers, and $28.86 for electricians, against Florida medians of $27.24, $25.44, and $27.52. Next door in Lee County, plumbers earn a median of $24.85, almost $3 an hour less.

The workforce behind those numbers is small: about 910 HVAC techs, 810 plumbers, and 1,110 electricians in the whole metro. High pay with a thin bench means Collier shops recruit from Lee County constantly, and Lee County shops recruit right back.

How residential is the Naples market?

More than any other large Florida metro. BLS QCEW counted 453 residential plumbing, HVAC, and electrical contractor locations in Collier County in mid-2025, employing 3,936 people, against just 51 commercial ones employing 612. In Tampa, commercial contractors employ 12,249 people. For a residential service shop, that means fewer commercial employers pulling at your techs, and more residential competitors bidding for them.

Most of the work is outside the city itself. About 91% of Collier County’s 417,131 residents live outside Naples, Marco Island, and Everglades City, in communities such as Golden Gate, North Naples, Ave Maria, and Immokalee, per the Census Bureau’s 2025 estimates.

How do seasonal homes shape Naples hiring?

About one in four Collier County homes is seasonal. In 2024, 61,840 housing units, 24.9% of the county’s total, were held for seasonal or occasional use, per the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey; in Hillsborough the share was 1.6%. Demand peaks when owners arrive for the season, and empty homes need AC and humidity control all summer.

The population itself has leveled off. Collier grew 11.0% from 2020 to 2025 but added only 409 residents in the last year, with more people moving out to other U.S. counties than in, offset by international arrivals. That steadier base, plus the seasonal swing, makes Naples a market where planning a search around the calendar matters more than raw growth.

What does the housing stock mean for service work?

Collier’s median home was built in 1996, newer than the Tampa metro’s 1986, but the coastal core is much older: the median home in the city of Naples dates from 1983, and Marco Island and Golden Gate from 1987 (ACS 2020-2024). Ave Maria, by contrast, has a median of 2015. One county holds both repipe-age homes and brand-new subdivisions.

Storms add to it. Ian pushed 6 to 9 feet of surge into Naples in 2022, destroying 33 buildings in Collier County and causing major damage to more than 3,500, and Milton brought 3 to 5 feet from Bonita Beach through Marco Island in 2024.

How we recruit in Collier County

We source from Collier and from southern Lee County (Bonita Springs, Estero, San Carlos Park, Lehigh Acres), where many working techs live within reach of Collier job sites. Every submittal says where the candidate lives relative to your service area, because I-75 and US 41 traffic in season decide whether a hire lasts.

Collier County still runs its own local licensing system, including journeyman certificates of competency for electricians, plumbers, and air conditioning techs. Every candidate gets a scorecard phone screen, credential and card checks for the trade, and background and driving-record checks to your policy.
